It's taken so much longer than I'd hoped, but here we are - my first traditionally published novel, 'The Scholar's War', is now at the printer's, and publication is imminent.
Briefly, it's the tale of an insane king who wants to live forever, and the man unfortunate enough to be in his way. Mani is just a scholar, spending his days talking to the Sea-Goat people in the lagoon, but since they supposedly know the secret of immortality, that's where the Mad King is coming. Thrown into the swirl of great events, Mani has to remember the old saying, that strength cannot keep pace with cleverness.
This moment, for me, marks the end of years on years of dreaming, moments of despair, and a lot of hard work. They say that every successful writer is a failed writer who never gave up. I can attest to that. I hope this leads to another contract, maybe several more books in print, but if it doesn't I've still climbed the mountain.
So, the book will be out soon. There'll be a free sample, 20% of the novel I think, to which I'll provide a link here on this website. I'll be looking for blogs to appear on, e-magazines to publish a couple of chapters (free of charge, natch), and podcasts or radio shows. If you offer those things, or know someone who does, please leave a message, I'll follow it up.
Now I go back to nervously waiting... take care.
